WAYWARD HEARTS MATCHMAKING

Frequently Asked Questions

Updated July 2026

Is this an app or a personal matchmaking service?

This is not an app. We don't use swipe-based algorithms. Wayward Hearts is a personal matchmaking service focused on creating genuine, intentional connections between people.

Who is this service for?

Individuals of all genders and sexual orientations living on Prince Edward Island who are looking for meaningful romantic relationships and are ready to engage in a thoughtful matchmaking process. Love is not exclusive to certain people, and neither is this service.

How does the matchmaking process work?

After you sign up and pay your membership fee, I'll schedule a video chat or in-person meeting with you. This conversation is essential. It's where I get to know who you really are, what matters to you, and what you're genuinely looking for in a partner.

Once we've met and I'm confident we're a good fit for working together, I'll begin thoughtfully connecting you with compatible members. Matches are based on values, lifestyle, interests, and what you're actually looking for, not just what looks good on paper.

What if I don't complete my entire profile?

Incomplete profiles don't get matched, whether you're a free or paying member. If you refuse to answer all the questions I ask, your profile remains incomplete and ineligible for matching.

The questions I ask aren't just about collecting data. They help me understand who you really are, what matters to you, and what kind of person would actually be a good fit. Without that information, I can't confidently make an introduction that would work for you.

If I reach out asking you to update or provide answers, those details are necessary for me to make an appropriate match. I also request one recent photo of yourself so I can easily identify your profile when I'm working on matches. This photo is never shared with anyone else, but it makes finding and reviewing your profile much easier.

Your information is completely confidential and only used to assess compatibility. The more I know about you, the better I can match you. Incomplete profiles sit in my database but rarely, if ever, get contacted for introductions.

If you want to be matched, complete your profile. It's that simple.

Do I have to do a video chat before matchmaking starts?

Yes. Every paying member must complete an initial video chat or in-person meeting with me before I can start making matches. This applies to everyone, no exceptions.

Free Date-a-Base members who want to be considered for matches with paying members will also need to complete this conversation.

This isn't just a formality. It's how I do good matchmaking. I need to understand who you are beyond your profile so I can make thoughtful, compatible introductions.

What if we're not a good fit during the initial meeting?

Sometimes during our conversation, I might determine that Wayward Hearts isn't the right fit. This could be because you're not ready to engage collaboratively in the matchmaking process, your expectations don't align with what I offer, or evidence suggests you won't be respectful toward the process or potential matches.

If this happens, I'll be honest with you and your membership will be cancelled. Fees are non-refundable in these cases, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions.

This protects everyone in the Wayward Hearts community and ensures I'm only working with people who are genuinely ready for real connection.

What happens if I change my mind after joining?

The membership fee is non-refundable. Once payment is made, your membership is active and your fee is committed to the process regardless of outcome.

If you find yourself not ready to proceed after joining, please reach out immediately. A membership pause of up to six months is available before an introduction is confirmed. Life happens and I understand that.

However, once match documents have been sent and an introduction is confirmed, there is no turning back except in the case of a genuine personal emergency, which is handled at my discretion. Withdrawing from a confirmed introduction will result in the immediate termination of your membership with no refund and no exceptions.

Please be honest with yourself before you commit. The membership fee is modest compared to what this service delivers. What I ask in return is that you show up ready.

What's the difference between paying members and free Date-a-Base members?

Paying Members ($190 + HST):

•        Priority consideration for all matches

•        Proactive matchmaking -- I actively work to find compatible matches for you

•        Personal introductions when compatible matches exist

•        Direct access to me for support and guidance

•        Required initial video chat or in-person meeting

Free Date-a-Base Members:

•        Listed in the database

•        Considered for matches with paying members IF compatible

•        Must complete video chat or in-person meeting before any introductions

•        Not prioritized -- you might wait months or it might never happen

•        Access to event announcements

If you're serious about meeting someone, paying membership is the way to go.

How many introductions will I get?

I don't promise a specific number of introductions because I prioritize quality over quantity.

You might get 2 or 3 introductions if several compatible people join. It might be several weeks or months before you get an introduction if no one compatible is available.

What I do promise:

•        You're first priority when compatible matches exist

•        I'm actively thinking about and working on your match every single day when I am doing profile reviews

•        Quality introductions based on genuine compatibility

•        Thoughtful facilitation of first meetings

If you need guaranteed weekly introductions, Wayward Hearts isn't the right fit. If you want quality over quantity, let's talk.

What does "collaborative partnership" mean?

Matchmaking works best when you and I work together. This means engaging openly and respectfully with me, trusting the process even when it challenges you, participating in good faith when I make introductions, communicating constructively about what's working or not, and treating potential matches with kindness and respect.

This isn't about being perfect. It's about being genuine, respectful, and willing to engage in the process.

Can I be removed from the Date-a-Base?

Yes. Members can be removed from Wayward Hearts (both paying and free) if they exhibit disrespectful, argumentative, or uncooperative behavior, refuse to participate in the matchmaking process, show evidence they won't engage respectfully with potential matches, or violate the Code of Conduct.

I created this matchmaking process to make genuine connections easier. Non-participation or disrespectful behavior defeats that purpose, so members who can't or won't engage constructively will be removed without refund.

This protects the community and ensures Wayward Hearts remains a safe, genuine space.

What happens after I'm matched with someone?

I facilitate and coordinate your first meeting, including time, location, and all the logistics. You meet in person without having exchanged contact information beforehand (for your privacy and safety).

After the first date, you let me know how it went. If there's mutual interest, you can exchange contact information and continue on your own. If not, no contact information is ever shared.

I follow up with both people to understand what worked or didn't, which helps me make better matches going forward.

How private is your process?

Absolutely private. Your personal information is never shared with potential matches until after your first meeting, and only if there's mutual interest.

I don't share photos, contact information, or personal details before introductions. This protects your privacy and allows you to meet without preconceived judgments based on pictures.

If a match doesn't work out, the other person never gets your contact information. Your privacy is protected throughout.

How is this different from dating apps?

Dating apps show you who looks good on paper based on algorithms and profile data. Wayward Hearts introduces you to people based on genuine compatibility, including values, lifestyle, and what you're actually looking for in a partner.

Key differences:

•        Human matchmaking, not algorithms

•        Thoughtful introductions, not endless swiping

•        Privacy protection (no photos shared beforehand)

•        Facilitated first meetings with context

•        Quality over quantity approach

•        Real accountability and safety

Plus, you're not alone in the process. You have me actively working to find compatible matches and supporting you through the journey.

What are your business hours and response times?

I operate Wayward Hearts as a one-person business, which means I'm doing everything: matchmaking, marketing, administration, event planning, and business operations.

Typical availability:

•        Business hours: Monday to Friday, standard business day

•        Evening availability: Two evenings per week for pre-scheduled onboarding meetings

•        Occasional Saturday mornings when not running events or working on marketing

•        Closed: Sundays and all Canadian/PEI statutory holidays

Response times: I aim to respond to emails and messages within one business day, but sometimes it takes longer depending on what's happening with the business. If you need to schedule a call or meeting, I'll work with you to find a time that works for both of us.

I'm not available 24/7, and there will be times when I can't respond immediately. Running a small business solo means juggling a lot, and I appreciate your patience and understanding.

What if I have more questions?

Contact me directly at matchmaker@waywardhearts.ca or call/text 902-916-2031 during business hours.

I'm happy to answer questions before you join to make sure Wayward Hearts is the right fit for you.
